Holly Hancock's work is an exploration of identity, politics, and policy. Hancock's interdisciplinary focus on photojournalism, documentation, and fine art, helps justifies her own place in society. She documents the world around her on a personal and societal level by capturing contemporary issues both traditionally and digitally.
As an artist with a background in sociology specializing in a lens-based medium, I have learned to view the world in a complex and unbiased nature. Growing up alongside the rise of social media, where the digital camera became a major ubiquitous symbol of the average person, I have found myself having an appreciation for 20th century photographic processes.
